Dachshund Photos – Christmas Updates

Hans is my third dachshund - my first American one. Snoepie, in the top photo, was Belgian, and Snoep, the first one, was French but bought in Casablanca. He lived an adventurous life, in Morocco, Belgium, Switzerland, and the U.S. My second dacushund - called a tekkel in Belgium - was very different from Snoep, Snoep being aristocratic, the son of a French champion. Dachshund Walk – Hans and Friends

When the rain took a break and it was pretty to walk, Hans and friends (Georgia and Novak) went for a walk with me and Auleen Heffron at Lynn Lake. Here are a few photos. I needed to tighten Hans' halter because while I was gone he lost quite a bit of weight, worrying. Now he's having fun eating and also I've ordered him a new halter and even a dog car seat. It sits above the seat, so a little dog has more of a chance to see out. It should arrive Monday.

I brought him to NC - his first plane trip - in 2001. He's a character in Keep This Quiet! IV.  When I took photos of Snoepie, just before he died, they sometimes had strange light effects. Hans’ Birthday

The vet just sent Hans a happy birthday card. His birthday is actually in early August. At least, it was  last year. On the other hand, perhaps we should begin celebrating right now. So Hans is 6, and he came to me aged 2 1/2, when a light worker who had known Snoepie, my earlier dachshund, phoned that there was a dog just for  me.  She said he had been for a month at a vet shelter, and the fact that no one had taken him was a clue.
